Sobtzak Engineering Technologies, LLC is a small machining, metalworking, and fabrication company. We do all variety of services including Manual Machining & CNC Machining, CNC Plasma Cutting, Custom Fabrication, Welding, Lathe Work, and more.
If you can imagine it, we can create it! From custom fabricated hard to find parts and components to prototyping inventions, metal signage, plaques and silhouettes we work with you to make your vision a reality. As a small machine shop, we focus on limited runs, prototyping, and specialized components.
On top of these general fabrication and machining services, we offer agriculture products for small compact tractors including bucket tooth bars and 3-point earth rippers.

Sobtzak Engineering
Tom Sobtzak
I grew up in the small town of Grand Rapids, Minnesota (not Michigan). After high school, I went to GMI (now Kettering University) in Flint, MI where I graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 2000. I worked for Delphi Corporation in Indianapolis, IN doing manufacturing development for lead-acid car batteries for a little over 2 years. I then spent 2 years in a battery manufacturing plant in New Brunswick, NJ. I came back to the Flint area in 2003 with Delphi and did test engineering with engine dynos for after treatment accelerated aging for gas and diesel applications.
In 2005 I joined GM doing diesel calibration and then verification. For the last 2 years, I’ve been a validation engineer for OBD diagnostics for all vehicles. In 2004 I got an associate’s degree from Baker College in Flint in Electrical Engineering Technologies. I then continued that route by earning a second engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Oakland University in 2016.
I consider myself a hands-on engineer. I’m a tinkerer. I like experimenting and working with my hands. While earning my Mechanical Engineering degree, I worked on student project cars such as the SAE Formula car, a hybrid electric vehicle, and an electric race car. That’s where I got the itch for machining, welding, and fabrication. With all that, I finally was able to build my shop 2 years ago. I started Sobtzak Engineering Technologies, LLC with the help of the MI SBDC last year and enjoy working on projects there.
Limited Production Runs
Sobtzak Engineering also provides limited production runs of hard to find and custom parts. From automotive to agriculture and farm equipment we can get fabricate the parts you need or produce the parts you sell.

Farm Machinery Metal Fabrication & Custom Equipment
Sobtzak Engineering specializes in fabricating custom and hard-to-find parts for farm and agricultural equipment. We manufacture stronger compact tractor bucket tooth bars and earth rippers with thicker gauge steel and replaceable teeth so that when one breaks or wears down all you need to do is replace a tooth or tine as opposed to replacing the whole assembly.

Sobtzak Engineering is capable of CNC plasma cutting and fabricating Corporate Exterior Signage, Small Business Metal Signs, Custom Metal Signs for Home Owners, Metal Path & Driveway Arches, Custom Metal Fence Panels up to 1/2 inch gauge as well as smaller gauge Custom Metal Artwork and Silhouettes.
